What does it take to create good graphic desig n?
An understaning of the elements and priciples of design.
What is the difference between elements and principles?
Elements are actual pieces of design where as principles are tell us how to use elements.
Name the six (6) elements of design.
Line
Shape or Form
Space
Texture
Value
Color
What can lines aid in, when alone or combined with other lines or shapes?
Can aid in readablilty, apperance, or message of a design. Used to hold certain elements on the page.
Which lines suggest a feeling of rest? Why do you think?
Horizontal, it relates to gravity or a state of rest.
Vertical lines communicate a feeling of what? Why do you think?
Loftiness. They reach upward which reminds us of large objects.
What lines suggest a feeling of movement? Why do you think?
Daigonal. The line is curved giving a feeling of instability.
Soft, shallow curved lines suggest what? Why do you think?
Relaxation. It represents safety and security for us because of the shape and direction.
These lines suggest confusion and turbulence? Why do you think?
They are similar to shpaes we see in nature such as tonados and waves.
What element defines a specific area of space?
Shape.
What is the difference between two dimensional shapes and three dimensional shapes?
Two-dimensonal has width and hieght while a three dimensonal has depth as well as width and hieght.
Describe the difference between geometric shapes and organic shapes?
Geometric are structured and symmetrical, while organic shapes are made in nature(they can also be man-made) irregualr.
What are abstract shapes?

Which basic shape projects an attitude of honesty or equality?
Square.
What do triangles suggest?
Acton and stability
Circles convey feelings of what?
Protection or infinaty
Describe positive space and negative space?
Positive: is the area which contians all of the elements you might have added to your design.
Negative: Also known as white space, gives a place for the eye to rest which is needed in order for the message your communitcating to be absorbed.
What is texture?
Refers to he actual surface of the design or can be implied with the use of graphics. Provides
