"Assignment 14 Research & Inspiration"

Inspiration/Ideas

-Use the actual dictionary definition on Indesign, use the texture too.

-Opened book be the poster; other information besides the what a copywriter is will just be other pages/words in the book. Have the front cover, back cover or the spine say something

-Background be a paper texture or just a solid color

-If I don't use the book other pictures could be things like; typewriter, computer and keyboard, pen and paper, feather and paper?

-Use pictures of word magnets?

-They could be used to write out what I need to be on the poster or just draw attention to certain text that is important

-Backdrop be something that has to do with being a copywriter; ie. the plane dropping fertilizer on the city*stop the spray*

Research

Main things copywriters do: meet tight deadlines, come up with creative material for print, radio and tv ads, brochures and catalogs, web content and sales representation. They must be excellent and persuasive writers, be able to identify their target audience, come up with catchy phrases or slogans, brainstorm ideas and they MUST be able to have a thick skin because their work will be critiqued a lot and they must be able to work long hours as well as work under pressure to meet deadlines, very ace-paced industry!

"Visual Organization"

Visual Organization

Not directing the audience is misdirecting them

Eye Movement

-The typical eye moves from left to right and top to bottom
-Controlling eye movement within a composition is a matter of directing the natural scanning tendency of the viewers eye
-The eye tends to gravitate towards areas of complexity first. In pictures of people, the eye is always attracted to the face and particularly the eye area
-Light areas of a composition will attract the eye, especially when adjacent to a dark area
-Diagonal lines or edges will guide eye movement

Optical Center
The spot where the human eye tends to enter the page. Optical center is slightly above the mathematical center and a little to the left
-It takes a compelling element to pull your eyes away from the optical center

Z Pattern
Our visual pattern makes a sweep of the page, generally, in the shape of a "z"

A designers objective is to lead the viewers eye to the important elements or information

Fonts

-Generally do not use more than TWO fonts and make sure they compliment each other
-Avoid using all caps unless completely necessary
-Choose the right font (choose fonts according to the theme or tone of your composition)
-Do not overuse fancy and complicated fonts
