Copywriter

Job Description

Most copywriters are employees within organizations such as advertising agenciespublic relations firms, company advertising departments, large stores, marketing firms, broadcasters and cable providers, newspapers, book publishers and magazines. Copywriters can also be independent contractors who freelance for a variety of clients, at the clients' offices or working from their own, or partners or employees in a specialized copywriting agency. Such agencies combine copywriting services with a range of editorial and associated services that may include positioning and messaging consulting, social media and SEO consulting, developmental editing, and copy editingproofreadingfact checkinglayout, and design. A copywriting agency most often serves large corporations.
A copywriter usually works as part of a creative team. Advertising agencies partner copywriters with art directors. The copywriter has ultimate responsibility for the advertisement's verbal or textual content, which often includes receiving the copy information from the client. The copywriter is responsible for telling the story, crafting it in such a way that it resonates with the viewer/reader, ideally producing an emotional response[1]. The art director has ultimate responsibility for visual communication and, particularly in the case of print work, may oversee production. Although, in many instances, either person may come up with the overall idea for the advertisement or commercial (typically referred to as the concept or "big idea"), and the process of collaboration often improves the work.

Salaries



Production Artist

They are the last person to see a design so they edit, and must be good at using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat. Must have a sharp eye. Bachelors degree in graphic design and previous experience in the indusrty. Salary is from $60 to $250 an hour.

Art Director

Supervise and critique the visual appreance so that is meets the clients needs. Skills include being good with people. Must have skills in particular computer programs. Must have a degree in some field of graphic design. Starting salary would be about $30,000 and they can make up to $80,000.

Creative Director

Oversee the design of the project, keep track of deadlines and manage advertisement. Skills required are being good with people, good at managing, and assigning staff to certain project. Some sort of degree in graphics and some experience in management. Salaries are usually $97,000. Highest is $150,000 and the lowest being around $52,000.

Illustrator

Creates images from certain images and develops them into everything from books to greeting cards and advertisements. Skills needed: good techniques, creative minds, classes that deal with illustrating, and a bachelors in fine arts. Salaries range from $50,000 to $74,000.

Web Design

Responsible for creating world wide web pages for a client. Skills: strong verbal and communicating skills knowledge of HTML extensions. Salary ranges from $51,000 to $74,000. Education: must have a four year college degree. 


Package Designer

Create different packaging designs for different products. Must have a bachelors degree in design and a general knowledge of packaging. Salaries range from $40,000 to $80,000.

Comic Book Artist

Comic book artists create comics for people who want to read them. Education: a degree in fine arts or drawing. Skills: active listening and keeping up with current trends. Salaries range from $50,000 to $75,000. 

Graphic Designer

Create thumbnails and designs. Salaries range from $35,000 to $50,000.

Publication Designer       



StoryBoard Artist


Translate screenplays into a series of illustrations. Skills: drawing and the ability to think cinematically. Salaries range from under $30,000. Education: a degree in fine arts or any graphic designing class. 

AIGA

The American Institute of Graphic Arts, all about showing people what graphic design is and inspiring people. Sets standards for the ethical conduct of graphic designers. Basically a network of inudivual and groups of graphic designers, can assist with legal issues. 


SPB

The Society of Publication Designers. An organization that promotes editorial designs (magazines) offer internships, events to show off your work and win scholarships for college. 

Portait Photography

Take photographs while creatively capturing a face, not usually focusing on the background. Skills: be creative, know your equipment and know how to develop pictures correctly. Salary: $20,000 to $46,000 Education:                         of arts and photography with a portfolio.
